Black Fish Barcelos

I’m proud to officially announce our partnership with Black Fish Barcelos, owned and operated by my good friend Alex, based in Barcelos — the Sport Fishing Capital of the Peacock Bass.

The crew at Black Fish Barcelos is one of the true strengths of the operation. Experienced, professional, and deeply knowledgeable of the waters around Barcelos, they are fully committed to delivering a safe, organized, and productive fishing experience. From the guides who know exactly where the giants live, to the onboard staff who take care of every detail, the entire team works together to make sure each guest feels supported, comfortable, and focused on catching trophy peacock bass

The operation at Black Fish Barcelos is built around structure, comfort, and efficiency — designed to deliver a true Amazon sport fishing experience in the waters of Barcelos.

The Vessel Layout

The main boat is thoughtfully designed across three levels, combining functionality with comfort:

First Level – Engine Room
The foundation of the operation. This level houses the engine room and mechanical systems that keep the boat running smoothly and safely throughout the week.

Second Level – Main Deck
This is the heart of daily life onboard.

  • Front open deck for relaxing and enjoying the river views

  • Cockpit area directly behind the front deck

  • A hallway leading to three private suites, each with its own bathroom

  • Air-conditioned dining room

  • Fully equipped kitchen behind the dining area

  • Storage room located behind the kitchen

  • Rear launch area where guests depart each morning for fishing

The flow of the main level is designed for practicality — from preparing gear, to dining, to heading straight out to the fishing boats.

Third Level – Upper Deck & Private Areas
Accessed by a stairwell from the dining room, the third floor offers both privacy and social space.

  • Large open deck with a private bar

  • Deck shower for cooling off after a long fishing day

  • Two hallways (one on each side), each leading to two additional bedrooms

  • At the very front, a beautiful panoramic viewing deck — perfect for sunrise coffee or sunset drinks over the Amazon

This upper level offers one of the best views you can experience in the rainforest.

Our private chef, Aldo, is a true master of Amazonian cuisine. With years of experience preparing traditional regional fish like tucunaré, tambaqui, and pirarucu, he brings out the authentic flavors of the rainforest in every dish. Beyond the Amazon, Aldo specializes in international cuisine, skillfully preparing meals inspired by cultures from around the world to match our guests’ preferences. Every menu aboard is thoughtfully curated and fully customizable — from gourmet meals to comfort food favorites — and our food and beverage service, including alcoholic selections, is tailored to each group’s requests, ensuring a personalized and unforgettable culinary experience in the heart of the Amazon.

The Support Boat & Full Infrastructure

What truly sets this operation apart is the extra support boat that travels alongside the main vessel.

This additional boat is dedicated to:

  • Crew accommodations

  • Extra storage space

  • Freezers for fish and food storage

  • Backup generators

  • Additional supplies and operational equipment

This structure ensures the main boat remains organized and comfortable for guests, while the operation stays fully equipped and prepared for any situation.

Everything is designed with one goal in mind: maximum fishing time, maximum comfort, and zero operational stress for guests.
